Update cross references on Mac?

R

Richard Cavell

Hi,

I have cross-references inserted. As my document changes, those
cross-references end up wrong.

I'd like to update all the cross-references. I go select all, then
context menu - there's no 'update field' command. I can't use F9
because that invokes Expose.

Another question - after looking at Help, how do I get rid of the help
window?

Word 11.1 on Mac.

Hi Richard -

Can't understand why Ctrl+Click doesn't produce the Update Fields command,
but Shift+Option+Cmd+U should do the trick.

The Help Window should have 3 little 'traffic light' icons at the left end
of it's title bar - click the leftmost one to dismiss the window.

You might also consider updating Office - current is 11.2.3

I spent an embarrassing number of months with that problem. Help came
up with its close buttons jammed under the menu bar every single time.
I'd forgotten it was supposed to have any!!
System preferences->displays
change the screen size to something tiny like 800*600
Everything will move about, exposing the help menu bar. Drag it
somewhere else, reset the screen resolution.

When I fixed it, with help from the folk on this list, I swear it had
yellowed with age ;-)
