Update fails

My wife has MacBook Pro 17 " Intel Chip, running Sys X.5.4, 2.16 GHz
Processor, Microsoft Office/Mac 2004, 11.4.0. She has had this for a long
time , at least two years. She has done MS updates without problems before.

A few months ago when the 11.5.0 MS update came out she was unsuccessful in
downloading and installing it. Whenever she tried, she was told 'couldn't
connect to server'....I wrote the newsgroup, and someone suggested she
download the update directly from the internet rather than using the MS
Autoupdate Application. This didn't work either....she received the message,
repetitively that the server was busy or there was a problem with network
connection.
Each of the other six Macs in the house with the same connection didn't have
the problem.
Now Update 11.5.1 is available and she is receiving same error messages and
is unable to update...We've tried with Safari and Firefox browsers and with
different identities on the same computer...with same result.

I don't know how important the updates are, but would just like someone to
explain to me how this could happen...ie, other similar computers with
identical network connections are successful; her computer was successful in
the past, and now is not.

Thanks...sorry for the convoluted note, but it's a complicated story...I
hope I said it clearly.

It could be a corrupted cache for the web browser you are using.
You could try clearing out the cache or using a different browser,
Alternatively, you can download it from one of the other computers and
take it on a flash drive, by network, etc to the computer you need to
run it from,

There is definitively something fishy.
If not the brownser cache, then maybe the DNS cache. An application like
Only cah help you clear all cache files and try to get back on tracks.

In any case, you'll need to install the 11.5.0 update before you can run
the 11.5.1 one.
