In Word 2003, if I choose to update fields (F9), the words "Figures 1 and 2"
are changed to "Figures Figure 1 and Figure 2." That is, Word automatically
replace the cross-reference "1" to "Figure 1" and "2" to "Figure 2". The same
things happens to other filds such as tables, theorem, etc.
When I define a cross-reference, Word has five choices "entre caption,"
"only label and number", "only caption text," "page number," and
"above/below." I wish that it had "number only." If I could use "number
only," the above problem wouldn't happen Word 2003 insists that the caption
must go with the number. Even if I delete the caption manually and choose
"preserve formatting," the caption will come out after a update of the fields.
