Update fields in header-footer while opening a DOC...

Hi,

does it is possible to «block» the fields update inside header-footer while
a Word document is opening ?

I inserted a «FILL-IN» field into a header and each time I open that
document, Word show the prompt (to seize value)... But, if I insert the same
field anywhere in the document (and I delete the one in the header) and I
open again the file, Word does'nt prompt the message.

Hard to understand and to deal with...

Feel free to submit comments and suggestions.

Thanks !

You appear to have answered you own question. Put the field in the document
body and cross reference to the header.
If you use an ASK field rather than a Fillin, it will write the data entered
to a bookmark. You'll need some code to update the field - see

Thanks for your answer, but I'm implementing a program who will automate
some process and we cannot move the field to the body and cross reference to
the header... The program will treat a great number of file. That's why I
try to block the refresh before I open the document. I thought I only had to
disabled macros and alerts to do that, but it's more than that.
