Update from Office Proffessional 2003 to 2007

If I install the new update Office Professional 2007 over the existing 2003
in the computer, will it go smoothly?

I do have some existing files in Outlook, Word, Newsgroups, and Excel files
in 2003 that I will like to keep. Will these transfer to the new Office
Professional 2007 without any problems or hassles thru the update?

I am thinking to get 2007, that is why I am asking.

Not very savvy with computers, so my knowledge is limited.

Any advise will be appreciated.
