Update installer can't find folder

T

Trish

When I try to install Update 10.1.2 for Office v.X, the installer says it
will look for Folder "Office" on hard drive C, however, initial installation put
folder "Microsoft Office v.X" in folder "applications" on hard drive c. The
installer is failing because it can't find the "Office" folder. What do I do to fix
this?

Thanks!

Hi Trish,

Assuming you named your hard drive "C" the proper place for the Microsoft
"Office v.X folder" is in the "Applications" folder.

The "Office" folder belongs inside the "Office v.X" folder.

I am experiencing the same problem. Microsoft Office v.X is installed
on the Mac version of my "C" drive, and I can clearly see a folder
labeled "Office" inside the "Microsoft Office X" folder. Before
downloading and attempting to install this update, I read the install
instructions very carefully.

So, as the install instructions suggested: The logged in account I am
using is the administration account, I downloaded the update to the
computer's desktop as suggested, the version of Stuffit expander I'm
using is v.6, and because installation instructions recommend that I
do NOT run disk repair utilities before installing this update, I have
not done that. This is a new computer, and I have not yet installed
any antivirus software that could interfere with this install.

I also found a note elsewhere that stated that Microsoft could not
guarantee downloads through Safari, so I used Internet Explorer to
download this update.

As far as I can tell, I've done everything correctly. Why is the
updater telling me that it cannot find "Office"? Any other
suggestions? I would really like to move forward on this project.

Thanks

I had another idea since my last post, and this time I was successful,
in a way. I simply skipped the 10.1.2 uupdater, and tried to install
the 10.1.4 combined update. This was successful.

My only guess is that although all inquiries into the exact version of
Office that I was installing told me 10.0, I actually did have version
10.1.2 on that CD. In fact, now I've successfully upgraded to 10.1.5,
and when I click on the Microsoft Office app icon and "get info", it
still tells me that it's version 10.0. When I open one of the
component apps, the opening screen tells me I have "Service Pack 1"
version.

BUT-now when I get info on the individual office apps, I am told that
version 10.1.5 is installed. Go figure. I hope you can have the same
success.
