Update links in Excel suddenly have stopped

Excel 2003 and Windows XP Pro.
After using links hundreds of times in this spreadsheet. I now get an error
message on opening the file saying links not updated. Even after breaking
and re-creating they still do not work. Udate remote references is still on.
I am a fairly experienced user and I have not altered any parameters. Any
ideas?

I get this problem also when my spreadsheets get too big for Excel to
update. The best workaround is to open all the linked spreadsheets. Excel
will automatically populate the values for you.

Excel needs a better memory manager, but if your computer can handle all the
open frames, you will have the data you need. Good luck.
