Update message problem

I am building a DB in '07, and every couple minutes I get the message
below:

Updating Tablesress and hold ESC key to stop...


This DB has very large tables in it, and this causes DB to stop while
I wait for it to do what it needs to. Looks like a behind the scenes
auto save? Is this a setting I can change somewhere? This is
slowing
down my process alot in getting this completed.

Hi,

Does this happen all the time or only in certain situations, such as
when you have a form open in form view mode? Access does indeed do an
automatic refresh of open tables and open forms that have record sources
(tables or queries). If you go to the Office button, Access Options,
Advanced, Advanced (again), you will see some a regular refresh interval and
an ODBC refresh interval. You could boost the appropriate value to see if
that helps. Also, for development, it probably would make sense to do the
development with a data set that is significantly smaller. At least until
you need to test performance.
