update..... MsiInstaller problem

Troy

Have attempted an office update via office update. After
the download and during the installation I was prompted
to insert my office disk for a required file. My office
program came with the operating sys. (xp home). So I
inserted the xp disk and the file was not there. Now at
every boot the windows installer attempts to install
update until the missing file is needed. Previous to this
update I reformatted and reinstalled XP and all hardware
and software and service pack 2. I have a clean running
system. I fear that if the installer is going to attempt
an installation to office at every boot and can't because
of the missing file there will be problems in the future.
Is there a way to free up the installer or delete the
update so the installation is attempted at every boot.
Thank you Troy

I'm experiencing exactlt the same problem. When I try to open Excel 2003, the
installer window opens and tells me the update installation is in progress.
About 20 seconds into it, a message appears telling me that a file
<SKU003.CAB> cannot be located. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do
to either locate this file?? I'm at a loss....

Thanks,

Shawn

Hi,
I have been getting the same problem with Outlook 2002. When I went into
the SYstem Error Logs, I found this error that has been repeating several
hundred times in the logs

1/21/2005 10:28 PM MsiInstaller Detection of product
'{00030409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}', feature 'OUTLOOKFiles' failed
during request for component '{CC29EA4B-7BC2-11D1-A921-00A0C91E2AA2}'

This started happening after I updated Outlook to 2002 from 2000

Anyone able to sort this one out?

Jay
