Update OLAP Cube

T

Thea

When I tried to update an OLAP cube that someone else had created, I couldn't
do it. I checked the posts here and tried all the suggestions but nothing
helped.
At the end I just created a new one (even though I was told there is only
one cube needed for the whole server) and it worked.
Now my questions: can a olap cube only be updated by the person that created
it?
Both the person that created the first cube and I are adminstrator.

Thanks
Thea

Thea,
When you say : "I couldn't do it.", does it means that the "Update" button
is greyed off ?

No.
First I got an error message that said i should check the PScomPlus.exe what
I did and I added my account.
After that it started to build the cube but after a while it said:
Current Cube Status
The cube scheduled to be built on 05/01/2006 at 11:42 PM failed.

(14) Cube didn't build because of security check failure

I read a post about this error and found the link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324838

It desribes three steps:
1) run the PScomPlus.exe; that's what I already had done
2) add acount to OLAP Administrator Groupe; but I allready was in the group
3) Migrate Analysis Services Repository to SQL Server Database; I didn't do
this, since I was alone and I wasn't sure whether I'm allowed to do it

Thea,
If you didn't migrate Analysis Services Repository to SQL Server Database,
did you do the following :
Note: If you choose not to migrate the repository, you have to add the OLAP
Administrators group, or the Windows user account that is a member of the
OLAP Administrators group, to the list of users and groups that have Full
Control permissions for the Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin
folder so that the cube can be built.

Hope this helps,
