Update Problems from MS Download Site

I am having the same problem. I have XP Pro installed and
I can't get a complete scan of my system for needed
updates. When I try to repair from Control Panel, it
tells me I'm missing an installation file, get it from
the CD, but it can't find it on the CD either.
Is there any help available r are they just trying to
collect support money?
