Update problems SP-3 ...........ts

1. How do I know just what I have here? When I launch Word the splash
screen shows Office XP, but Word itself claims to be 2002.
I'm pretty sure I don't own Office XP and suspect the installation was
Office 2002.

2. Updates to Office XP Service Pack always fail. Something about a
missing PROPLUS.MSI

I got into the Microsoft documentation on the subject and do not expect to
live long enough to devour all that stuff. I suppose it's silly to expect a
simple answer. I'd just like to STOP all the failing attempts at the
upgrade to XP, but do not want to stop other upgrades to Windows.

Thanks , Ted

Office XP includes Word 2002, Excel 2002, Outlook 2002, and various
other 2002-series applications depending on the particular Office XP
edition. PROPLUS.MSI should be in the root folder of your "Office XP
Professional with Front Page" CD, if your Office XP software is
legitimate, which it probably is not (but you probably already know
this), because this edition was only legitimately available to
enterprise/volume-license customers.

Okay - thanks for the info. If this version is not legitimate then that
could likely be why the updates are refused.... I will go work on that
problem..

I have downloaded files on my computer that will not install. I would like
to delete them to avoid the repeated instructions to install, but I do not
know where they are located. Maybe you can send me in the proper direction.

Thanks, Ted
