Update Project Feature

K

Kaisera

Hi,
We are working with Project Pro. & Server 2007.
We use the "update project" feature to reschedule uncompleted work to start
after...on a weekly cycle.
After doing so, we level the resources on the plan to get the new "picture"
of the schedule.
The problem is, that when leveling resource is performed, it takes back to
the past some of the rescheduled tasks.
We don't use status date at all, which means it gets the default of the
actual day we're at when leveling.
The weekly cycle takes every Sunday (week start in Israel), if matters
anything, and the calendars are defines to match it.
Can anyone shed light here?
Thanks,
Yaara.

Hi,

Sure I can shed the light!
Before rescheduling work you should clear leveling.

To understand this:
Think of a task that has a SNET constraint way back in the past, but
leveling has scheduled it next week.
You now do reschedule work, this will IGNORE that task
Now leveling: leveling starts by a clearing of the previous levelings so
your task is reset to way way back in the past
Then leveling starts but it may well now find an availability in the past

There you are
so the process is
Update
Clear leveling
Reschedule work
LevelNow
