Update project problem in Portfolio Server - dbnetlib error

Hi,
has installed Portfolio server 2007 on a single box with SQL server SP2.

I encounter a problem when for example changing the start and / or end date
for a previously saved project. After hitting the Update button Portfolio
server is processing for about one minute and then an error message is shown:

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access
denied

Things to note:
- other operations, like entering budget cost etc, works fine.
- in another environment, with SQL server SP2, changing dates works, takes
only 3 secs.
- if I set the project to a project class without associated workflow it is
possible to change dates.

Does anyone have experience running Portfolio server with SQL server SP2?
Anyone who have encountered the same error message?

Thanks!
