Update Remote References

In the Calculation window of Excel Preferences, why is the Update
Remote References checked but grey so I cannot change it? All the
Excel help info I can find indicate I should be able to change this
setting. There was a similar question posted last April but there was
no answer.

Hi John,

Did you post this same question someplace else? I could swear I answered
this one last week.

Anyway, there is a dialog box that appears when you open a document that
contains links to other files. The dialog box's functionality replaces the
functionality of the preferences setting.

You can use VBA to change the setting if you really want to.
