Ok I know this one has an article published (KB304498) but I still cant get
it to work
I am running Windows XP (SP2) and on that I am running office 2000 (sp3)
with Outlook 2003 ..yep Ok its a bit of a mix of office programs !..I have
followed the article (KB304498)..including the reg edit but cant get it to
run through the check for updates. I have removed all office products and run
a good reg cleaner and then reinstalled each program ..checking at each stage
but I still cant get the "check for updates" to run as it always comes back
with the same response "office update site is experiencing some technical
difficulties and is unable to check for updates"....can anyone help ?

Try the solution in my post below and see whether it works for you:

After weeks of wrestling with the following error message :

"The Office Update site is currently experiencing some technical
difficulties and is unable to check for updates."

and after trying all the possible suggestions in this newsgroup with little
success, I finally stumbled onto the following solution. It appears that the
office update site requires the latest version of the Microsoft Windows
Script 5.6 ( version 5.6.0.8825 ) while the one currently on my system was
5.6.0.8820 ( or maybe it was corrupted ).

I downloaded this from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/8/a/28a5a346-1be1-4049-b554-3bc5f3174353/scripten.exeAfter installing the above, I am now able to access the office updatesitewithout any problems."MikeH42" <[email protected]> wrote in messageOk I know this one has an article published (KB304498) but I still cantget> it to work> I am running Windows XP (SP2) and on that I am running office 2000 (sp3)> with Outlook 2003 ..yep Ok its a bit of a mix of office programs !..I have> followed the article (KB304498)..including the reg edit but cant get it to> run through the check for updates.
