Update Styles by Example in Word 2002??

Karissa

I have looked high and low for a shortcut to update styles
in Word 2002 by example. In Word 97, you used the shortcut
Ctrl+Shift+click in Style box to update the style based on
the changes you made in a current paragraph.

Does anyone know of a shortcut to do this in Word XP?

Hi Karissa,

You can add a keyboard shortcut yourself:
In "Tools > Customize... > Keyboard...":
Categories: All commands,
Command: Redefine style

Then press a new keyboard shortcut in the box for that purpose (say
Alt+Ctrl+Shift+R for "Redefine style").
And/or you can add the command to some toolbar or menu:

On the Edit tab of Tools | Options, check the box for "Prompt to update
style."

Thank you KLAUS! THAT is what I was looking for exactly, not how to be prompted to update style, Suzanne.
The multi-post was inadvertent. Thanks.

If you have the Styles and Formatting task pane displayed in Word 2002,
there is an "Update to Match Selection" option available on the menu you get
when you click the down arrow beside the style name.
