Update to 2003 Student and Teacher Edition

I have windows ME and I want to update to the 2003 student
and teacher edition but it says I need a newer version.
One the box it says its compatible with windows 2000 and
xp. I assumed windowes ME is windows 2000?? Why isn't it
working... thanks, Amanda :)

Windows ME is just that, an operating system named Windows ME, a step above
Win98 and 2 above win95. It's the last in that line.

Windows 2000 is the name of an OS in the NT line, one above Windows NT and
one under Windows XP. it is related to Windows ME only through the name
"windows" - they are two entirely different programs.

To use Office 2003, you'll need to upgrade to Windows XP.

Windows ME is an earlier operating system that is not compatible with Office
2003 and will require Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP to run.
