update to error 2349 below

I tried to repair the installation and got the same error
message. The excel program does not open without starting
the configuration box and asking for the original program
cd.
the first posting said the following: "I tried to update
my Office 2000 Professional with an sr2
update cd from microsoft and it told me to update with
sr1a first. I followed the instructions. It asked for my
office 2000 cd and started to run the "configuring...."
box. It took a long time and then I got error message
#2349. Can anyone help?"
