update to windows blocks firewall

According to Norton, my personal firewall is blocked by
Active X as downloaded from Windows update. I can't access
the Internet without disabling the firewall- obviously not
a good solution. Anyone elsehave this problem? I'm Windows
ME and 2002 Norton firewall. I've not been able to find a
way to contact Microsoft otherwise. Any help ? Thanks, SB
