I can't find my Office folder or files. I just upgraded to Windows XP from
Windows ME. I don't have any of my Office programs anymore. I no longer have
the original disks, lost them in the divorce. Do I need to go Purchase New
Office software? I can get to a word type program but all my formats are gone
too, Resume, Cover Letter, and all my Excel spreadsheets. Help!!!

It is likely that you formatted the HD when you upgraded from ME to XP.

If so, you have to, unfortunately, purchase the program again if you don't
have the CD and your files may have lost.

If you did not format the hard disk, try to use My Computer (instead of My
Documents) and browse through C drive (normally, the default drive is called
"C:") and see if any of the old folders are there. If so, backup those old
files first.

If you can't find any old file folders, you might have lost them as well.
Unless you wish to have those data recovered by a professional data recovery
service company (which is very expensive), you lost those data forever.

Whenever you lose or delete files the data remains on your drive so
long as it is not written over by other disk activity. In other words,
stop using your computer and preferably boot from another drive. You
may be ablet to retrieve your lost files using data recovery tools.
Here are some freeware tools to get you started. Good luck!
