Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I had to update the license key on office as i cloned a mac system.
Now Entourage opens fine and works fine but, excel, word, and powerpoint give an immediate error when launching and send an email to MS(error reporting). and go in a continuous restart loop.

I used the remove office program. Rebooted. Reintalled office and applied the 12.1.5 update. Same problem. It also appears that the remove office program doesnt remove everything because it never asks for a license key and my email was their after reinstall.

Please help as i cant do my work...

How did you clone? I would download and run the latest Apple combo updater
to refresh files.

"Remove Office" in Office 2008 does not remove the packages or Automator
actions. You'll need to manually delete those in your root Library folder.
I'm also not sure, but it might not delete the AutoUpdater, but that's OK to
leave there. However, removing packages will allow the AutoUpdater to
download the correct updates and some Automator actions have been upgraded
and need to be refreshed.

Delete these two files to remove the license key:

~:Library:preferences:Microsoft:Office 2008:Microsoft Office 2008
Settings.plist

HD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2008:Office:OfficePID.plist

When you start an Office app, you'll be asked for a CD Key.

Follow these steps to reinstall:

* Launch the Microsoft Autoupdater (MAU).To launch MAU, you can open any
Office application and select "Check for Updates" under Help in the Menu
bar. Once MAU is launched, select "Keep in Dock"
* Quit all Microsoft applications (Easy way: log out/in with Shift key down
to disable any startup items.) Be sure all applications are quit before
running updater. IMPORTANT
* Drag the Microsoft Office 2008 folder to the Trash.
* Empty Trash.
* Reinstall Office 2008 from your original installation disk.
* Restart
* Update to 12.1.0 (if you have a newer DVD you might only need the 12.1.5)
* Restart (restarting before you launch any app is important!)
* Update to 12.1.5
* Restart

Note: the AutoUpdater was replaced in the first updater so that should
already be updated. The Office 2008 MAU is now hidden away.

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0
