updates download, but will not install on Office 2003

I recently downloaded Office 2003 required up dates, but they will not
install. I have the installation disk for Office 2003 in place on the
computer's CD ROM drive. Outlook does have a different registration ID than
does the Office 2003 suite (Oulook 2003 purchased before Office 2003).

Do you get an error? If so, what error?

No error messages, just that it failed to install, no matter how large or
small the downloaded files.

So, it says "Installation unsuccessful" or "The Update cannot be applied"?
