Updates download problem

I have Works Suite 2002. I am attempting to download updates for Word 2002.
I have eventually downloaded & installed SP3 by going to the knowledge base
article, but am not able to download further security updates. I keep
getting the standard error messages, whether I try full or part downloads.
I have attempted the 10 methods in knowledge base article 304498 and have
tried to follow the resolution in article 884298, but the 'Delivery' folder
etc does not appear in the 'Office' folder in the registry. I realise this
article relates to Office 2003. Is there an alternative resolution for my
version?

Hi, chw,

What "standard error messages" are you getting?

mentioned in method 7, then re-installing Works?

Hi Susan,

The error messages I am referring to are the 5 links that are offered on the
'Installation Troubleshooter' screen with the further option to "check for
udates & try installation again".

I hadn't tried the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility as no errors were
reported on running the Detect and Repair. I have now downloaded this
utility, removed Word 2002 and reinstalled this as well as the SP3.
Unfortunately, I am still getting the Installation Troubleshooter screen each
time I try to download the updates.

Can you suggest any further options?

Bummer. That usually works, if nothing else does. I'd download the updates
individually and install them. If you can't do that, and if every step in
that article 304498 doesn't work, I think I'd contact Microsoft product
support.

Thanks Susan. I have downloaded the updates individually and they have all
installed successfully.

I have at last resolved the problem. I have the ONSPEED accelerator and it
appears that it was this that was preventing update downloads and access to
the Windows Updates website. I temporarily bypassed ONSPEED to enable
downloads and now ONSPEED have fixed the problem. I hope this advice is of
assistance to others.
