I have office pro 2003.
I receive messages regarding updates and I have them downloaded but the
automatic update fails to install the updates on my computer.
It asks for a disk which I did not receive when I purchased the computer 2
years ago. There used to be a way to bypass the use of the disk however I
can't find it or figure it out.
These updates have been ready to install for months. Please help

The MS Installer expects to always have access to the original installation media (CD or hard drive image) when updating or
repairing MS Office 2003. For MS Office products provided to PC suppliers (OEMs) part of their requirement is to include the MS
Office Product CDs with the computer. You may want to contact your PC supplier for those.

In some cases, you may be able to install an update by downloading the 'admin' or 'full file' version of an update
http://microsoft.com/downloads or http://office.microsoft.com/downloads but it the MS Installer detects what it sees as any problems
with your current installation it is going to want the CDs.

I found one reply to this installaion problem, which I had for a couple of
weeks. I uninstall Office 2003, then, reinstalled the software. My problem
was solved.

Thanx for your replies, I am waiting for a reply from the retailer who sold
it to me as part of a "student package" at the local university. I have the
disk, Office Pro2003 Win32 English but when the update says insert the office
2003 disk with Front Page and I do so, it rejects the disk saying that it
isn't the right one.

Also, from memory, there used to be an option on updates where you could
install without the disks but the Updates pages seem to have changed and I
can't find that option. Did Windows/Microsoft remove that option (it was a
button on the right side just below the help button I believe)?

If there are any answers out there I sure would appreciate them. thanx again.
