updates for multiple installation of Office

L

Lee

I have done the installations so that multiple version of
Microsoft Office (2000 and XP) are running on my computer
(WIndows XP Home) without a problem by following the rule
of installing 2000 first and then the Office-XP.

But I now have a question any time I ask for UPDATES to
Office. Of course it lets me know that I have updates to
do for Office 2000 as well as for Office-XP. I have been
only putting on the updates for Office-XP feeling that no
changes could be made to the earlier version once you had
installed the later version. Am I wrong to have this
assumption?? Or can I be installing updates for both
version? And if I can is there a problem if I have
installed the Office-XP update before installing the
Office 2000 update?

Hi, Lee,

You can be installing updates for both versions. Because MS doesn't
recommend running multiple versions at a time, they've probably not done any
testing about patching multiple versions in any particular order, so you're
probably on your own there. But, in my experience, each program is
installed separately and can be patched separately.

Thanks for giving me the answer to my question.
