Updates for Office 2004 for Mac

Hi Chuck -

Assuming you have an active internet connection (preferably high speed) go
to the Help menu in any Office App & select Check for Updates.

I know I go to "Downloads and Updates" but there are many many updates. I was asking if there is a specific order or sequence for all the updates. Hopefully there is one update which catches all the updates since 2004.
The updates I have down loaded yield the comment "this update cannot be applied to this software". I have tried to update several times all with the same response, consequently I have not updated since 2004.

No, Chuck - that's not what I suggested:)

If you select *Check for Updates* - not Downloads & Updates - it will run
the AutoUpdate feature & automatically provide what you need. You may want
to take a look at this first (except that there isn't a lot there):

IIRC, you can start with 11.3.5 which will apply to any prior level. Then
there are 11.3.6, 11.3.7, 11.3.8, 11.3.9 & 11.4.0 to follow. Repair Disk
Permissions & restart once you're done.

Thanks for your help but none of the suggestions do any good. I can not find AutoUpdate anywhere in my Office 2004 folder. I even tried reloading the DVD thinking I may have deleted it somehow. No where to be found.
I also tried to update starting with 11.3.5 but that was rejected also.
The only thing I failed to mention (it may not be relevant) is that the software is a "student edition".
End result after all this is that the program works fine, does everything I ask of it but it is not the most up to date.

Hi Chuck -

FWIW, it makes no difference which package you have - S/T, Standard & Pro -
all contain exactly the same versions of the programs included with each, so
that isn't the problem.

Not clear from your reply - Did you go to Word> Help> Check for Updates?
What - specifically - happens when you do? I can't remember exactly where it
is stored, but there really isn't any need to track AutoUpdate, itself. That
menu command will launch it for you. If for some rason you actually *don't*
have it you can download it from here:

Take a look in the Office folder for Microsoft Component Plugin, select it
then Command+I. Also, go to the Word menu & select About Word. Let me know
the results.
