Updates for Office 97

J

Jack Tirrell

When I try to update any Office97 service release I get
the error message: the file address could not be opened,
because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to disk
first and the opening the files.

There is no provision on the Web page to save the file to
disk. I need to know how to do save the file to disk so I
can see if I can open the file from the disk.

Help!!!

Hi, Jack,

What Web page are you referring to? There are a few places where you might
be able to get Office 97 patches.

Thanks. I went there and saw the following:

Downloads for Office 97/98Help
Downloads

Featured download: PowerPoint viewer
Office 97 sounds
Office document open confirmation tool
PowerPoint 97 master presentations converter

Other Versions
Office 2003
Office XP
Office 2000

Office 97
Add-ins | Updates | Converters | Samples & Tutorials
Access 97
Add-ins | Updates | Viewers | Samples & Tutorials

(etc.)

I clicked on "Updates" under Office 97, and saw a list of all the updates
for Office 97. I clicked on the link for SR-1, and I got an SR-1 page:

Download details: Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0B-4DA8-4FB2-80E4-CCFB8D3C1D0B&displaylang=en

I click the "Download" link, and tell it to "Save" to my hard drive. It
does save successfully.

How far in that process did you get?
