I just had the hard drive replaced in my computer. I believe it was ghosted
from the old hard drive which had a lot of bad sectors. Microsoft Office is
on the new hard drive, but when you open a program it trys to run Windows
Installer, and then gives an error message Microsft Word 10.0 An error
occurred and this feature is no longer funtioning properly. Please run Setup
and select "Repair..." to restore this application. I have Office XP on my
computer as well as Publisher 2003. Word 10.0 came preinstalled with the
original hard drive, but I never used it and the disc is still in the
packaging. Anyway, I cannot install office service pack 3. When I go to the
list of previously downloaded updates, it says 1 and 2 were installed. I
tried to reinstall Office XP and Publisher 2003. I still get the error
message, but the program seems to run fine, and all of the old files are
still there. The only exception is when I try to open word, it asks me if I
want to open it in safe mode. I say, no and it seems to work fine. Should I
try to delete Word 10.0? Also, my office and windows XP automatic updater
seems to missing. I tried to reinstall those from the website, and got an
error message.
I am not good at this which is why I had my brother-in-law in another state
fix my computer. He can't help me with this problem at this time as he is
away on business. Any suggstions? I am concerned, because it appears I
cannot update the Office XP, Publisher or Windows XP at this time.
Thanks
