Updates not applying on the server

I have users that updated their tasks through the Office Project Web Access
(using Project 2007), and I am attempting to open my project plan after
approving the tasks updates. Upon opening the project, a pop up asked me if
I woudl like to apply the updates to the plan, and I clicked yes. Now, I
have a pop up that states "Updates are being applied on the server, Estimated
time to complete in seconds:"

My problem is that the seconds do not count down...I left it open over my
lunch hour, and when I returned an hour later the updates had still not
finished. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Because the pro client is not displaying the number of seconds, it sounds
like something is dead-locked somewhere. Worth checking the status of the
queuses, potentially restarting them, checking the ULS/event logs, making
sure the project is checked in etc.

Not much to go on I admit, but troubleshooting isn't easy!
