Updates to a functional manager

Hello! I am very new to this. I am trying to set up the server for our
organization, I want the task updates to go to a functional manager of the
group, instead of the project manager. Is it possible to set it up this way?
Would they be called the Resource managers then?

Project Server does not function in this manner. The closest you can come
to what you wish is to use the Timesheet Approval process with Managed Time
Periods. Using this feature, your functional manners can approve task
updates, but then the project manager must still process the task updates
into the Microsoft Project plan. Hope this helps.

How do I use the Timesheet approval process with managed time periods?
Thanks for your response!

Your Project Server administrator needs to endable those permissions. Your
question is too general for me to answer in this group. Given your
inexperience with the software, I would recommend you purchase both of our
books on Project Server 2003 by clicking either of the links in my signature
block. Hope this helps.
