Upgrade 2001 to X

If I buy an upgrade for Mac Office X (I have the 2001 version), will it work?

Yes, Office 2001 is a qualifying product for upgrade pricing to Office X.
You should be able to run Office X provided your computer meets the system
requirements for Office X.

And, even if your machine is OS X only, you can still upgrade. Back up your
M.U.D. Folder, and have it ready. In my case, I had the built in CD ROM to
put the Office update in and then I had my Office:mac 2001 disk in a
separate reader (CDRW External). Even though the Office:mac 2001 wasn't
installed (I have no classic environment at all!), the updater qualified my
CD and allowed me to do some cool import/export things with Apple's Mail and
such. This may or may not apply to you, though. If it does, hope it helps.
