Upgrade Access Runitme 2002 to 2003

When I install Access Runtime 2003 on my machine that already had Acces
Runitme 2002 it appears both versions stay on the machine.

I would think that when installing the new 03 verison it woul
automatically remover the old version..

Is there a reason why it does not remove it.

Is there a way to have it (02) removed during the install of (03).

I searched for a while on google but could not find anything on th
topic.

Thanks

Why would you expect that?

Because the older Runtime might not even be for the same app. It could be
there because some *other* developer installed a runtime app and that app
might not even run in the 2003 runtime. This might not be the case in your
situation, but the runtime installer can't make that assumption.

I think you would have to do a separate uninstall of the older one prior to
installing th enew one.

I guess I would expect that because I thought that the 03 runtime wa
backwards compatible and that a app created in Access 02 and that use
runtime 02, could now be run in 03.

So in theory both versions could coexist on the machine.
If an older app needed the 02 runtime it would use it and a newer ap
built with access 03 would use 03 runtime or does the file assoctatio
only point to the new 03 version.

That would be true the vast majority of the time.

The file association will point to whichever one was opened last. Runtime
apps should always have shortcuts that explicitly specify which executable
to use to avoid any problems caused by this.
