Upgrade Eligibility Question

I have tried very hard to find an answer to this. Even the Microsoft
upgrade eligibility site doesn't seem to address it directly.
I have an Office 97 Upgrade Version that I am seeking to
upgrade to Office Professional 2003. It is clear that the full version
of 97 is eligible for the upgrade, but is the upgrade version also
eligible? (I assume it is but can't find specifics.)
Thanks very much for your help!
Frank

Yes, the upgrade version is eligible.

You may need the version that you used to qualify for the 97 upgrade, which,
of course, you still have, right?

No, we have looked and cannot find any original packaging
or CD's. It may have come pre-installed on our IBM Aptiva,
a very old machine.
Now I have a "Yes the upgrade is all that is required" and
a "Maybe." Where do I go to resolve this?????? I must have
a definitive answer.
BTW the Office 97 Small Business is currently installed on
the Aptiva, if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

Eligibility considerations aside, if you can't produce a CD of the
qualifying software, you will get exactly one install of the upgrade
software.

To restate, Office 97 Small Business Edition is listed as qualifying.
So clearly the full-blown version is eligible. We have the upgrade
and that poses the question.
So I can't produce a CD of the previous software, but I can
produce a CD of the upgrade, and the question is: Does that
qualify for the new upgrade?
Not sure I understand what you mean.

To my knowledge the Office upgrades work the same as the Windows
upgrades. The install CD for the "qualifying software" is inserted when
the "upgrade" software being installed asks for it.. Whether the
"qualifying software" was an "upgrade" or "full version" is not an issue.
