Upgrade from 95 to 2007?

J

John K

I searched for a thread on this but didn't see one...I apologize if this has
been covered. I recently started with a company that's working with MP 98.
The side panel on the 2007 upgrade box doesn't list 98 as upgradeable to
2007. I ordered MP 2003 for this reason, but rec'd 2007 with a note saying
they can't get 2003 anymore.
So the question is....is Project 98 upgradeable to Project 2007?
Thanks.

Hi John,

I suggest contacting Microsoft directly. From the web page below, the
answer appears to be "no", but I would go directly to the source for the
definitive answer.

See the following URL for 2007 pricing. Project is listed approximately
1/2 way down.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101754511033.aspx?pid=CL100796341033

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie,
Actually I tried pretty much everything including the site listed. The 2007
upgrade is still unopened in case it's not compatible with Project 98...and
since the program isn't installed, the microsoft support site wants $49 to
answer my question.

Hi John,

Sorry for the delay in replying. Just to clarify -- are you asking
whether Project 98 files can be opened in Project 2007 or whether
Project 98 is an eligible program for "upgrade pricing for Project 2007?
I assume you were asking about eligilbility for upgrade pricing, not
whether you can open 98 files in Project 2007.

If you are asking if you can open Project 98 files in Project 2007, the
answer is yes. I have tested it myself but can also direct you to the
following URL:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project/HA101324981033.aspx?pid=CH100948801033

You cannot however, create a file in Project 2007 and open it in Project
98.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
