Hi,

I have purchased a standard edition of Office 2008. Do I have to remove the student edition first or can I enter the new product key somewhere?

Thanks in advance

If you're not using an Exchange Server, or automator actions, I believe
you should be able to change your product key.

See the "Remove and reenter the Office 2008 product key" entry in Office
Help.

You need to install the standard edition. It installs files that are not a
part of the Home & Student version.

1) use "Remove Office"
2) Delete this file:

~:Library:preferences:Microsoft:Office 2008:Microsoft Office 2008
Settings.plist

3) I don't think "Remove Office" removes the package files in receipts.
Remove packages starting with Office2008.

"Library/Receipts"

2) install from the DVD and update. This should require you to enter your
new CD key.

tip: log out/in with Shift key down to disable all applications to install.
Restart between each update.
