upgrade home 2007 to professional 2007, Word says non-commercial?

My new laptop came with a disc for Home & Student 2007. I then purchased
Professional 2007 upgrade because I want to use Office in business. According
to the info on the box, the upgrade will load with no problem with Home &
Student as a base. I first installed Home & Student and then the Professional
upgrade. When I open Word, Excel and PowerPoint, I get the "non-commercial
use" version. How do I correct this?

Do you have a license (product key) for Home and Student Office 2007
and did you activate it before attempting to upgrade to Office Professional
2007? If you do not have a license for Home and Student Office 2007,
you cannot use the upgrade version of Office Professional 2007...you would
need the "full version".

Carey--Thanks for responding.
Yes, I have a license key. I have confused myself :) but I believe I did
activate the Home and Student version first. If I did not, can you please
give me instructions on how to recover? That would be GREAT!

Okay, here is what I have tried--
1. I uninstalled Professional 2007 and restarted the laptop.
2. I went through the suggestions from "How to troubleshoot problems that
you may experience when you try to activate a 2007 Office product". I first
checked to be sure that the Office Home & Student 2007 was not a trial
version. It is not. It was actually supplied by the manufacturer but not
pre-installed. There is no indication on the box that it is a trial version
either. I also checked the date and time are correct on the laptop; they are.
3. I had activated the software previously so I tried the suggestion of
deleting the Opa12.dat file but was unsuccessful. I followed the instructions
carefully but a search did not turn up this file, even with hidden folders
showing. The instructions say to find the Microsoft folder and then the
Office folder. These do not exist in my config (I assume this is because this
new laptop was installed with Windows Vista. Perhaps Opa12.dat is not
used???) Anyway, I gave up on this course of action action went to step 4.
4. I reinstalled Professional 2007 and I am unable to activate it. That is,
when I check each program, it tells me that it has already been activated.
5. When I open Word, Excel and PowerPoint, they are still the Home & student
versions displaying the "non-commercial use" at the top of the window.
Please provide more detailed assistance, if possible. It is much appreciated.

Carey and others--for future reference, as I hope this will be useful to
others--
In order to correct the problem, here is the sequence that was successful.
1. I went to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924611
2. In Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, I used the Change function on
the Home & Student 2007 configuration by removing Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
3. I then used the Change function on Professional 2007 and added Word,
Excel and PowerPoint. This was actually done by selecting the "Run All from
My Computer" option for Microsoft Office (i.e. for all software included).
That worked! Everything is operating as Professional 2007 and the
"non-commercial use" has disappeared. Note that the first time the program is
opened (e.g. Word), it will flash the "non-commercial use" header and then
drops it.

Carey, if you hadn't given me the info to start with, I am not sure I would
have eventually figured this out. So I am most appreciative of your helpful
replies.
Thanks!!!
