upgrade question

W

wj.nelson

I recently bought a mac book and with it purchased office mac 2004, I
was told by the retailer that I would be able to get the upgrade for
no cost from microsoft since the purchase date is so close to the new
release. I am wondering if this is true or if I should return it to
the retailer and wait for the 2008 edition. If this is a dumb
question please forgive me, I am new to computers...

Thank you in advance,
Wes

Depends a bit on what "recently" means. Take a look here:

A test drive of Office 2004 comes on most computers. It's imperative that
you remove it before using the retail version. Did you install Office or did
they? Do you have the original box and a receipt?

The coupons to get your free copy will require certain proofs. Be sure to
read the offers for exactly what you need.

Thank you all for your replies!! I have not opened or installed the
2004 edition, it is still in original packaging. Also, we purchased
the mac and office package maybe 2 weeks ago, so I should be all
good!! Again, thank you all!!

If you are using the test drive, see this page for how to remove it. It's
been a nightmare to remove for many users.

I use both a MAC and a PC. I was upgraded from Office 03 to Office 07. I noticed it asked if I wanted to keep Office 03.... I said no. I wish I had kept Office 03, as I can accomplish things much quicker on the old version when time is of the essence. Can I also keep my Office 04 version on my MAC when I install my Office 08 version?

Yes. Just don't elect to delete Office 2004 when asked during Office
2008 installation
