Upgrade to MS Office 2007 from Office 2000 on Vista

Do I need to uninstall MS Office 2000 restart the pc before I upgrade to MS
Office 2007 on Vista?

I didn't uninstall MS Office 2000 in the first attempt and certain programs
in 2007 are giving an error message of not being installed correctly and to
reinstall. On reinstall it's now not finding qualifying product.

Help!

Office2007 should have offered to upgrade/remove office2000 did it not, or
did you elect to keep 2000?
Is Office2000 still shown in Add/Remove dialogue
What are 'certain programs' that give err's
