Upgrade to MS Office XP standard version 2002

I have Office 97 small business edition on my computer,
using Word and Excel.

I purchased Office XP Std Version 2002 and tried to
install it. After going through several steps, the
program tells me it cannot find "qualifying product" or
something like that.

As I understand, Office 97 qualifies for the Offixe XP Std
2002 version.

Can someone tell me how I can resolve this problem?

When it asked for a qualifying product, did you let it search your hard
drive or did you point it at your Office 97 CD?
