Upgrade to office 2000

I have an old system (that I am happy using) running
win95. I have Office 97 and wished to upgrade to 2000.
When installing system gets to verifying install tasks OK
then when "Installing MS Off" error message
appears "Installer terminated prematurely".

I have tried several ways to install - no go. Anyone have
any ideas?
