If I upgrade to Office 2003 over Office XP will outlook pick up all of my
email accounts and contacts from 2002 ? Left panel shortcuts ? Or am I
going to have to record all of these by hand and then reconfigure manually ?

thanks ...

Yes, upgrading will keep your settings and accounts. However, what do you
mean by the "left panel shortcuts?" There is no Outlook Bar in Outlook 2003.

Didn't know it was called that but yes, I guess I mean the "Outlook Bar"
..... it's not there in 2003 ??? I use that thing all day long to navigate
quickly to folders; is there a substitute which is just as effective for
people who have a lot of mail in a lot of categories ? Are they any
close-in screen shots where I can see what the arrangement looks like ?

Thanks ...

Use either the Search Folders or Favorites instead.

just in case anyone else needs to know, I did the upgrade and the Office
2003 install picked up all my email accounts, a complex file arrangement and
third party add-ins seamlessly ...

MS has done a nice job with Office '03 ... and, though a lot of people don't
care about these things, on top of a TON of functionality, it's just plain
pretty !

Agreed - and also very functional! Nice job, Microsoft!
