upgrade to Office 2003 Pro

I bought a new computer that had Office 2003 Student and Teacher 60-day trial
on it. I had Microsoft Works 6.0 from my old computer that I also installed.
I then purcahsed an Office 2003 Pro upgrade. The upgrade went fine, except
that on Word 2003, when I go to Help>About Word 2003, it lists the version as
student and teacher edition. For all other programs (Outllok, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, Publsiher), when I go to Help>About..., I see that the
version is Office 2003 Professional. Is something wrong? Or is the S&T
version of Word identicial to the Pro version of Word such that no changes
were necessary (and perhaps minor changes were made in the other programs -
Excell, Outlook, PowerPoint)?

JoAnne: What you say is true. However, Excel, Outlook and PowerPouint are all
part of S&T, and yet when I click on Help>About..., thye are revealed to be
Office 2003 Pro versions.Only Word 2003 did not change. Why?

That much I can't answer. If it had been me, I'd have uninstalled the trial
edition before loading the retail one. I've read about too many people
having similar issues.

JoAnn: That was the trick. Actually, what I did was uninstall the S&T
edition, because both (the S&T version and the Pro version) were on the list
of "Add/Remove Programs". When I did uninstall the S&T version, only the
Office 2003 Pro editions of all programs, including Word, were present.
Thanks for your help.

I'm glad I could help. A friend of mine just bought a computer. I was giving
her a copy of Office XP Pro that I didn't need. Before I installed it, I
uninstalled the trial version that was pre-installed. Like I said, I've
heard too many weird issues with the trial version.
