But... will the 2007 small business upgrade ONLY upgrade my Publisher
software and not the rest of the suite (Word, Excel, etc.) since they are
from 2003 Student edition and Student Edition does not qualify??

You can use the upgrade version.

I currently have Office 2003 Student edition. I purchased/added 2003
Publisher. Will Office 2007 small business Upgrade work or do I have to
purchase full edition?
thanks,
The upgrade will upgrade anything that is in the package and SBE does have
Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook if you just install without choosing a
custom installation.
What I would recommend, if you have the additional hard drive space, is to
do a parallel install by choosing the custom install and telling the
software NOT to overwrite all the Office 2003 programs EXCEPT Outlook (let
it overwrite Outlook as only one version can be installed at a time.) That
way you will have the benefit of being able to use the 2003 programs and the
2007 programs. The 2007 interface does have a learning curve to it and many
or some (depending on who you listen to) don't like it.
There is a Microsoft KB article detailing the steps you need to do to run
both side by side and especially look at the Outlook and Word sections.
