Hi,

I have bee using Office Pro 2000 for a long time now and have decided to
move to Office Pro 2007.
I have plenty of memory, disk space & CPU to handle it. I'm running XP SP2
with all recent updates applied. I just finished "ghosting" my hard drive.
I think I'm ready.
1) What else should I do to prepare?
2) What gotcahs should I look for?
3) Any known issues this leap from 2000 to 2007?

Thanks in advance for all help/suggestions. Much appreciated.

I'm a home user (one PC), JoAnn. I sometimes do consulting work but not
often. Most important to me are Outlook, Excel & Word in that order.

Unless the learning curve is really steep. . .

Should I buy a good book first?

Hi Mike,

You can try the online test drive or the downloadable 60day trial coy of Office 2007 first, http://office.microsoft.com/products

I've been reviewing some of Pogue Press's Missing Manual series and really
like them. They aren't written for a dummy but you don't have to be a rocket
surgeon either. I have several of the Dummies books and they're good but
sometimes a bit too cute. The Missing Manual books give me credit for being
able to read sentences with more than 4 or 5 single syllable words. ;-)

JoAnn & Bob,

Thanks for your advice. I pulled the trigger on the upgrade yeaterday and
it was nearly flawless. Only a few minor problems that I'm working through.

Also, I DID end up purchasing a book that has been a lot of help: "Using
Microsoft Office 2007" by Ed Bott and Woody Leonhard (part of the QUE) series.

All in all I am very pleased. Thanks again.
