upgrade to office XP problems

Im trying upgrade office to XP (not OS tho). I have
uninstalled the old 98se office and installed XP
(supposedly). When I run any office prog it just reverts
back to 98. What am I doing wrong.

I think that we have a name problem here. 98se, also known as "Windows
98 Second Edition" is an operating system. There was no such thing (on
Windows) as Office 98. There are two things called XP. Windows XP, the
operating system. And Office XP.

What operating system are you using (Windows 95, 98se, ME, 2000 or XP)?
What version of Office did you try uninstalling (Office 97, 2000, XP)?
What do you mean by "it just reverts"?
