Upgrade to Office XP

I'm installing existing software on a new computer. I have original copy of
Office 97 and an upgrade copy of Office XP Developer edition (2001).

Will it be necessary to install all components of Office 97 before I install
the upgrade?

You should be able to insert Office 97 and point to it when asked for the
qualifying product.
