I've just upgraded my desktop, it now contains Ppt 2000, XP, and 2003. I'm
not sure which one I'll be using the most, though. 2003 hijacked ALL my Ppt
icons on the Start Menu, but the apps are still there...had me freakin' for
a minute. It seems to have pulled my customization settings, such as fast
saves, #undos, recently-used file list, so that's good. PPTools is busted
somehow, per a startup message.
Issue #1...is there any way to change the look of the menus and toolbar
buttons?
In 2000 they were sharp and distinct and contrasty. In 2003 they use just a
handful or complimentary colors, they're really fuzzy, barely any contrast,
and I have to look at them hard to figure out what they are. The harder I
look, they seem to get blurrier. Well, they don't, but it's hard to focus on
a blurry icon...with 40-year old eyes. Is this supposed to be some sort of
improvement? (can't fathom how...)
BTW, both upgrade versions of standalone Ppt (2002 & 2003) allow
installation on a laptop in addition to the desktop, standard rules of being
the primary user, yada yada.
Oh yeah, and the CD comes in a DVD case. What the heck am I supposed to do
with a DVD case? I have 40 or so application CDs, a couple nice desktop
CD-storage racks, and now this ridiculous DVD case...CD in that DVD case,
inside the standard retail-sized glossy box, inside an impenetrable blister
pack, inside a corrugated shipping box. Took me about the same time to get
at the CD as the install itself.
It's faster than Ppt 2k, and there's some cool stuff in here, but it seems
harder to use at this point.
