Upgrade to Project 2007 from Project 2003 on Oracle

First question - is it possible to run Project Server 2007 on an Oracle
database? I cannot find any mention of this anywhere, so I'm guessing that
it is not possible.

Second question - my organization currently uses MS Project 2003. The
project data is stored on an Oracle database (30,000+ projects and counting).
Users access the MS Project application using a Citrix connection (user's do
not have desktop access to the database, thus necessitating the Citrix
connection). The enterprise is in the process of upgrading each desktop to
MS Project 2007, and for consistency we want to upgrade the Citrix
environment to match the users' desktops. Assuming that we cannot run
Project Server on our Oracle database and we cannot use ODBC to save our MS
Project 2007 projects back to a database, what options do we have given our
current infrastructure constraints?

The only thing I can think of is to store our project data in MPP files on
the Citrx server, and write a custom application that copies the pertinent
data to our Oracle database (for integration with the rest of our project
management applications). This sounds horribly clunky, inefficient and
unreliable, so any suggested alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

First Project Server 2007 only runs on MS SQL Server (2000, 2005 and 2008).
Second, one option is to use Project Server to store each plan :)

The enterprise runs on an Oracle database. We do not have SQL Server, nor
will we be getting it. Is that the only option you have for solving this
problem? I was hoping for a serious answer.

Christophe's answer was serious. As stated in the system requirements
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197379.aspx#subsection1),
Project Server (and the underlying WSS 3.0) require SQL Server. This is
not a recommendation. Supporting Oracle would pretty much require a
total rewrite of the entire application.

You could also save the files as XML files for import or to write a
macro/VSTO add-in to Project to upload the data. Note that you would be
essentially rewriting major portions of Project Server with these two
options.

However, if you are somehow able to install SQL, you could easily
extract the data you need from either the RDB and/or the PSI.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't mean to sound rude with my initial
response, but I did specifically say that we did not have SQL Server, and was
hoping to find out if there were any alterntives. Christophe's reply to my
2nd question wasn't very informative, as it only suggested doing what I said
we couldn't do.

Your response at least confirms to me that we will have to write a custom
application to make this work. That is the only choice we have.

Hello Jimmy
Thx for your quick reply.
But i have to do the installation of EPM with Oracle 10g or 11g. Microsoft
says with using ODBC connectivity it is possible to Connect project server
2007 with Oracle.
Can you suggest how it is possible to connect EPM with Oracle using ODBC
connectivity ?
