Upgrade v.X to 2004

I'm finally going to upgrade my Office v.X to Office 2004 which I've
had on the shelf for a while.

I'm running Mac OS 10.3.9.

Are there any things I have to be careful of or should I just press on
and install the upgrade as it comes out of the box?

TIA

If you have been using Office X successfully for a while (and have never had
a trial version of Office installed; or have properly deleted it) you should
have no problems updating.

Yes, but be sure to update IMMEDIATELY! Get the 11.3.3 update which is a
combo updater to take the CD version up to 11.3.3. Then get 11.3.4.

I also suggest downloading this handy script that identifies the different
version of Office and their installed version. The Microsoft Component
Plugin always get updated, but each individual Office application can have
different version numbers.

Run Repair Permissions and restart your computer after updating.

Entourage 2004 will Import your Entourage X data. You'll notice that after
the update that you will have a "2004 Identities" folder and an "Office X
Identities" folder. You can delete or archive the old Office X folder AFTER
you are satisfied that the update was successful.

Just by the way--It's not going to update X, it's going to install 2004
side-by-side. I think it will give you the option to remove Office X,
but don't immediately, you can go back and do it later if you want. Run
each app once to do First Run before deleting Office X, if you chose to.
